December 18, 2024 (El Cajon) – The tradition of skewered meats slow-grilled over a wood-burning fire arose in southern Brazil’s Pampas region, where gauchos, or Brazilian cowboys, would then take knives worn on belts and cut thin slices known as churrascos. Now you can savor this tradition at Rodizio Grill, an all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouse in downtown El Cajon.

You can savor no less than 15 different cuts of meat served tableside by gaucho-clad waiters, including tender slices of steak, tri-tip, bacon-wrapped chicken, mint lamb  cooked with white wine and garlic, Portuguese sausage called Linguicia, ham, fish, and more. There’s also a grilled pineapple that will have you craving more.

Even vegetarians will find plenty to savor, since Rodizio also has an impressive salad bar featuring over 30 different salads plus an array of tasty hot side dishes such as Brazilian black bean stew, potatoes, rice seasoned with yucca flour, grilled vegetables and cinnamon-glazed bananas.

The salad bar has a wide array ranging from green salads and fruit salads to quinoa, kale salad with lemon, roasted coconut pineapple slaw, pasta, and marinated quail eggs.Non-vegetarians can also nosh on charcuterie (imported cheeses and cured meats), ceviche, spicy chicken salad and salads with seafood including Image may be NSFW.

Rodizio held a soft opening in late November and a ribbon cutting with the San Diego East County Chamber of Commerce.

The steakhouse now has a full liquor license, serving up Brazilian specialty drinks such as Caipirinha, Rodizio’s signature drink with fresh limes and Chacaca, a liquor distilled from sugar cane. You can also order beer or wine, sodas,  or non-alcoholic tropical fruit juices.

A full lunch runs $39.99.

Children ages 3-11 can dine for $15.99 at dinnertime or $10.99 for lunch, making this a good option for families.

Rodizio touts itself as America’s first Brazilian steakhouse, established in 1995 by Ivan Utrera, a native Brazilian whose award-winning restaurant has been featured in national TV shows and newspapers.  Utrera grew up with eh churraImage may be NSFW.
